Military-grade encryption
The term "military-grade encryption" is not a marketing slogan. AES-256 (Advanced Encryption Standard with a 256-bit key) is the standard used by the US NSA, NATO, and the governments of most countries to protect classified data. Cracking it by brute force is impossible even theoretically: the number of possible keys exceeds the number of atoms in the Universe.
What exactly is encrypted
RUSVPN encrypts all your internet traffic — not just the browser, but every app on your device. This means your ISP, Roskomnadzor, the Great Firewall, or any other observer sees only an encrypted data stream from which no useful information can be extracted.

Encryption protocols in RUSVPN
Different situations call for different protocols. RUSVPN supports several:
- WireGuard — a modern protocol with a minimal codebase (4,000 lines versus 400,000 in OpenVPN), fast and reliable. Uses ChaCha20 for encryption and Curve25519 for key exchange.
- AmneziaWG — a modified WireGuard with obfuscation. Traffic looks like random noise, making it invisible to DPI systems of Roskomnadzor and the GFW.
- Hysteria 2 — a protocol based on QUIC/UDP with TLS 1.3 encryption. Especially effective under high packet loss and harsh blocking conditions.
Why encryption is critical in Russia
Under the Yarovaya Law (2016), Russian ISPs are required to store all user traffic for 6 months and provide it on request to special services. Without a VPN, every query, every message you send is potentially available for analysis.
RUSVPN uses a zero-knowledge principle: even our servers can't decrypt your traffic, because the encryption keys are generated on your device and never leave it.
Why encryption is critical in China
China has a social credit system and mass surveillance of citizens' internet activity. ISPs are required to cooperate with authorities and provide data about users. AES-256 encryption combined with traffic obfuscation is the only reliable way to protect your privacy.
Perfect Forward Secrecy
RUSVPN uses Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS): a new unique encryption key is generated for every session. Even if an attacker somehow obtains one key, they won't be able to decrypt either past or future sessions. This fundamentally sets us apart from outdated VPN solutions.
Zero-logs policy
We don't store connection logs, IP addresses, browsing history, or any other data that could identify you. Our servers are located outside the jurisdiction of Russia and China, which eliminates the possibility of forced data disclosure by these governments.
